The NJD-2 Visibility Meter is designed for measurements related to meteorological visibility, with a measurement range of 5 to 100,000 meters (customizable range available). NJD-2 sensor is based on the principle of forward aerosol scattering. It is widely used for monitoring visibility values in situations of low visibility on highways and roads.
The operational principle of the NJD-2 is based on the measurement of atmospheric extinction coefficient (or atmospheric light attenuation coefficient) using forward scattering technology. According to the Koschmider principle, there exists a functional relationship between Meteorological Optical Range (MOR) and extinction coefficient (σ). According to the formula, by accurately determining σ, the MOR value can be calculated, which can then be converted into visibility.
The NJD-2 Visibility Meter consists of stable infrared emission light source, highly sensitive and wide dynamic range infrared scattering light receiver, signal acquisition and processing unit, controller, heater, power supply, modulation-demodulation unit, protective cover, corrosion-resistant bracket, stainless steel casing, and other components.
