You may have seen moon sand advertised on the television as a moldable sand children can play with that will never dry out.  This sand is perfect for letting your child’s imagination run wild and all it takes is the sand and some simple utensils from around your home to be creative.All it takes is 4 cups of flour and 1 cup of baby oil.  I like to let my kids measure and add the ingredients with my supervision.  At first it will be a little sticky and slimy but once it is mixed together well, it will have a soft moldable texture.  For added fun, stop by your local craft store and pick up fine glitter or powdered paint to change the color of the sand.This project can be a little messy, but it is easy to sweep up with a broom.  If you want to save the sand for future play, simply place it into an air tight container with a lid and keep it in the cupboard.

Sort items by color, shapes, texture. Plant a garden, play house, or grocery store. Role playing will help a them learn responsibilities, and pretend play is an excellent way to achieve this.

Learning through play is the only way to go, so get yours off the couch, pry the video game away and replace it with a puzzle or paintbrush.
