DFS400 AED/Defibrillator Tester
Designed for engineers at AED/defibrillator manufacturers, the tester integrates multiple needed testing equipment and functions. With its dedicated software, test data such as the shock waveform, energy (in Joules), parameters, and characteristic points are displayed on one screen and automatically saved to establish a comprehensive test history.
Moreover, it offers switchable loads to evaluate AED shock performance across different scenarios and allows comparison of multiple shock waveforms through the Repeatability and Reproducibility Analysis, ensuring consistent AED/defibrillator quality and reliability.
Origins
To ensure reliable product quality, AED/defibrillator manufacturers perform numerous tests at every stage before
the product hits the market. Traditionally, this testing requires multiple pieces of equipment: a defibrillation analyzer,
an external load box, a current clamp probe to capture the shock’s current, and a pre-amplifier to amplify the
captured current and send the signals to an oscilloscope for waveform display.
This complex testing setup leads to cumbersome operations, requiring operators to carefully observe and record
test data while being familiar with each piece of equipment to avoid human error. Additionally, to ensure the
accuracy and reliability of test data, regular calibration and maintenance of multiple testing devices incur
considerable costs.
Understanding these pain points, we developed the DFS400, which integrates the functions of a defibrillation
analyzer, an external load box, and an oscilloscope into a single tester. With its intuitive software interface,
users can effortlessly complete setups and tests with just a few clicks. After each test, the software automatically
saves the results, creating a traceable test history and eliminating the inconvenience of manual recording.
Considering that engineers need to simulate different physiological conditions by using various impedance values
in addition to the standard 50Ω verification for general AED/defibrillator performance, we designed the DFS400 to
allow users to switch between its multiple built-in impedance loads through the software. This feature helps
engineers determine if the AED/defibrillator can deliver appropriate shock energy under various scenarios.
We've also learned from our customers that verifying the consistency and reliability of each shock requires a
substantial number of shock tests, which is time-consuming. Therefore, we equipped the DFS400 with R&R analysis
functionality (Repeatability and Reproducibility Analysis) to compare and analyze up to thousands of records of
shock waveforms. This ensures that the shock waveforms, energy, and number of shocks meet the manufacturer's
quality standards.
To assist engineers in conducting numerous tests efficiently, we provide a free software development kit (SDK),
allowing users to develop their own automated testing software. This reduces the effort of repetitive setups for
operators and minimizes human error, accelerating the testing process. We envision the DFS400, with its all-in-one
functionality, becoming the best aid for AED/defibrillator engineers in testing and verification.
