The light-duty 318-Y cable is designed for use in domestic appliances, such as those often found in kitchens and offices, with a voltage rating of 300/500V. It is suitable for use with ordinary duty portable appliances such as radios, table lamps and office equipment where the potential for mechanical stresses and mechanical damage is low.
The 318-Y range is manufactured in accordance with BS EN 50525-2-11 and European harmonised standard H05VV-F (often misspelled as HO5VVF). Outside of Europe, the H05VVF cable is often called NYMHY cable. Conductor : Flexible copper (Class 5)
H05VV-F is a harmonized, light duty, oil-resistant, flexible, PVC multi-conductor 500-volt European cord. Recommended for use in connecting small electrical appliances under medium mechanical stress environments as in offices, kitchens and households.
Applications:
These cables are suited for medium mechanical stress in damp and wet environments such as refrigerators, washing machines, spin dryers and other appliances, as long as it meets applicable equipment specifications. These cables are also suited for cooking and heating apparatus, provided that the cable does not come into direct contact with the hot parts of the apparatus or with any other heat source. Further applications of this cable include: Fixed installation in furniture, partition walls, decorative covering, and in the hollow spaces of prefabricated building parts. They are not suitable for outdoor use, industrial (except clothing manufacture) or farming applications.
