Amino-2-propanol
1-amino-2-propanol is a colorless transparent liquid with a slight ammonia taste. It is optically active and liquid at room temperature. Soluble in water and ethanol. Melting point −2 °C(lit.), boiling point 160 °C(lit.), density 0.973 g/mL at 25 °C(lit.), vapor density 2.6 (vs air).

Product application
(1) The reaction with fatty acids to produce fatty acid isopropanolamide (alkyl isopropanolamide) and ester, because of its excellent foaming property, foam stability and the ability to dissolve grease, it can be used as an industrial synthetic detergent. (2) The product obtained with thioglycolic acid can be used as a cosmetic substrate. (3) Because of good hygroscopic properties and weak alkalinity, it can be used as raw materials for surfactants, refining agents, antistatic agents, dyeing AIDS and fiber wetting agents in the fiber industry. (4) Its phosphate and nitrite can be used as antioxidants for various lubricants and cutting oils. (5) The reaction products with various acids and high fat ketones can be used as plasticizers, emulsifiers and solvents. Isopropanolamine mixtures have a particularly strong ability to dissolve hydrocarbons, and a stable emulsion can be obtained by mixing kerosene, halogenated hydrocarbons, naphtha, etc., with isopropanolamine (4%) and oleic acid (15%) in water. The salt produced with long chain fatty acids can be used as the emulsifier of vinyl acetate resin, and the emulsion has good stability and stable color.
