Carbon Filter >>>

Carbon filtering is a method of filtering that uses a piece of activated carbon to remove contaminants and impurities, utilizing chemical adsorption. When a material adsorbs something, it attaches to it by chemical attraction. The huge surface area of activated charcoal gives it countless bonding sites. When certain chemicals pass next to the carbon surface, they attach to the surface and are trapped.

When used for air purification, they are simply installed up high in the room's ventilation system, or they can operate as stand-alone units if that is more convenient.

Activated carbon, also called activated charcoal or activated coal, is a form of carbon that has been processed to make it extremely porous and thus to have a very large surface area available for adsorption or chemical reactions. The word activated in the name is sometimes substituted by active.

Due to its high degree of microporosity, just one gram of activated carbon has a surface area in excess of 500 m (or about 2 tennis courts), as determined typically by nitrogen gas adsorption. Sufficient activation for useful applications may come solely from the high surface area, though further chemical treatment often enhances the adsorbing properties of the material. Activated carbon is usually derived from charcoal.

Properties of activated carbon include:

• Has a capacity for virtually any vapor contaminant; it will adsorb some of almost any vapor.

• Has a large capacity for organic molecules, especially solvents.

• Will adsorb and retain a wide variety of chemicals at the same time.

• Has an extremely large capacity to catalytically destroy ozone, a major component of smog.

• Works well under a wide range of temperature and humidity conditions.

• Adsorbs odors and chemicals preferentially to moisture. It is not a desiccant and will release moisture   to adsorb chemicals.

• Can be used as a carrier of one material to attract and hold or react with another material.

• Is inert and safe to handle and use.

We produce a multitude of durable standard-sized cylinder and box filters, high performance in-line filters and customised filters for various applications.

As a manufacturer of both activated carbon media and filters we fully control the quality of the activated carbon media used in our filters, and we customise it to the filters’ specific use.

We supply the most commonly used filters as standard and always have a stock of these available, but our specialty is that we are experts in manufacturing customised filters according to the specifications of our customer.

---Carbon Filter Types.

DongJie’s modular cylinder, box and custom shaped adsorbent filters serve as adsorbent for various gaseous and liquid contaminants and are made to fit most type of extractor fans and mounting frames. The filters are evenly filled with high quality virgin activated carbon media, which is especially useful for a broad range of contaminants.

The filter construction is robust and rapid bayonet fittings make them easy to install, without any special tools. We produce all vital parts ourselves, including activated carbon from coconut charcoal. Beside the standard sizes, we can design and manufacture any special size and activated carbon media to suit customer specifications.

>>>Our steam activated carbons are based on three different types of raw-material: Wood, coal and coconut shells, each with its unique benefits and applications.

Air filter with active carbon Meet international standard

Wood Based Activated Carbon

Highly versatile in removing a wide range of pollutants, wood based carbons have a high porosity.

A relatively low density

A renewable source of raw material

Coal Based Activated Carbon

With their high density and large pore volume resulting in high surface areas, coal based carbon provides very high adsorption characteristics with a wide range of applications.

A consistent density

A hard material with minimal dust generation

Economical in use

Coconut Shell Based Activated Carbon

Characterised by their highly porous structure and massive internal surface area, very high hardness and low dust, coconut shell based carbons provide maximum adsorption levels for virtually any air/gas and water treatment applications.

An added benefit is that coconut shells are considered a waste product from coconut oil production and therefore have minimal impact on the ecology – as such, steam activated coconut shell based carbon is by far the eco-friendliest type of activated carbon.

• A very large surface area characterized by a large proportion of micropores

• An extreme hardness with low dust generation

• A high purity, with mostly no more than 3-5% ash content

• A renewable and green raw material
